This is an exquisite fossil fish. It is a fabulous Pharmacichthys venenifer from the Middle Creaceous. This fossil comes from Lebanon, where political unrest has hindered collecting for many years. This site usually produces shrimp, lobsters, and common fish, but very exotic and rare fish are occasionally found. This piece is one of them. This plate has a beautiful Angelfish-type fish preserved. The detail of the fish is simply amazing. The color of the fossil is also quite striking. The fish is aesthetically centered on the rectangular plate of limestone. This is one of those unique fossils with the perfect combination of rarity and beauty.
