This is a beautiful pair of fossil fish from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. There is a large Knightia alta and a distinct Priscacara liops preserved on the large, rectangular plate of shale. The Knightia (left) is large and has its full backbone preserved. The Priscacara is very sought-after because of its recognizable look - similar to a modern-day Bluegill or Crappie. The fins on this specimen display incredibly well. The fine bone structure is very detailed, and the color and contrast are simply striking. These beautiful fish are easily seen on the rock - what more could you ask for? If you said this squared plate could be framed very easily, you would be correct! This is a wonderful specimen of two different classic fossil fish - it is worthy of any private collection or museum display.
