This is a spectacular fossil fish. It is an unidentified Parrotfish from Lebanon. Fossils from this area are hard to obtain because of years of political unrest. This unique fish has a huge head and a very large eye socket. The beautiful fish has extremely fine detail preserved - the many rows of large crusher teeth are very easily seen in the mouth. The distinct fish is nicely centered on the rectangular limestone block. This is a fabulous example of one of the more exotic fossil fish from the ancient coral reefs of Cretaceous Lebanon.
