This is a very fine specimen of Jianghanicthys hubeiensis from the Eocene of China. This fish is large and exhibits great detail. The bone structure is clearly defined, and the fins and tail are easily seen. The natural, dark brown color of the fish contrasts well with the light-colored matrix. The fish is beautifully centered on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a wonderful example of a complete Jianghanicthys from the Eocene of China.
