This is a very striking plate of fossils. This is a fine Aipichthys velifer fish and shrimp from the Cretaceous of Lebanon. Due to political unrest, specimens from this site are becoming very difficult to obtain. This ''exotic-looking'' fish exhibits great detail. The bone structure and fins are wonderfully displayed, and the eye socket of the wide-bodied fish is clearly defined. The fossil has stunning, natural orange coloration that contrasts beautifully with the light-colored matrix. And there is even a large fossil shrimp and a smaller fish preserved with the Aipichthys! This is a unique specimen of a beautiful tropical fish, a shrimp, and another fish preserved together forever.
