This is a very rare fossil fish. It is a complete Eohiodon rosei from the Tranquille Shale of Canada. This locality is well-known for the fossil plants that are found there. However, fossil fish from this site are extremely uncommon. This specimen exhibits fine detail - the bone structure is clearly defined, and the fins are easily seen. The fossil has excellent color and contrast and is nicely presented on the natural plate of shale that also contains a rare fossil cone. This is a wonderful specimen of this highly collectible fish from the Eocene of Canada.
