This is a nice double specimen of Lycoptera sp. from the Jurassic of China. Both fossil fish have very good detail. The bone structures of the fish are clearly defined, and the large eyes of the fish are easily seen. The dark-brown color of the fossils contrasts beautifully with the tannish-gray matrix. The fish are well presented on the natural plate of shale that also contains a few partial fish on the reverse side. This is a fine example of two fossil fish from the time of the dinosaurs.
