Here is an excellent plate of fossil fish from the Eocene of Wyoming. There are two different fish beautifully preserved on the slab. At the top of the plate is a great example of Diplomystus dentatus. Below this fish is an outstanding specimen of Knightia humilis. Both fish are complete and exhibit exquisite detail. The bone structure is clearly defined and the fins are wonderfully displayed. The eye sockets are easily seen and the scale pattern of the Knightia is very distinct. The fossil fish have superb, natural, dark brown color and contrast well with the cream-colored matrix. They are nicely positioned on the almost rectangular plate of shale. This is a very displayable example of two different fossil fish from the Green River Formation.
