Here is a striking fossil fish from the Cretaceous of Lebanon. This ancient tropical fish is Aipichthys velifer. Due to political unrest, specimens from this part of the world are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. This well-articulated fossil fish exhibits fine detail - the bone structure is clearly defined and the large fins are beautifully displayed. The orangish-brown fish contrasts nicely with the cream-colored matrix. The fish is well showcased on the rectangular plate of sub-lithographic limestone. This is a very aesthetic specimen of an exotic fossil fish from Lebanon.
