Here is a very aesthetic plate of fossils from the Cretaceous layers of Lebanon. This slab contains both an unusual fish and a shrimp. The fish is a fabulous example of Scombroclupea gaudryi. This somewhat elongate fish exhibits very fine detail - the bone structure is wonderfully defined. On the top of the slab is a very detailed specimen of Carpopenaeus callirostris. This shrimp displays the head, segmented carapace, and tail in fine fashion. Even the legs and antennae of the shrimp are easily seen. The fossils have great color and are well presented on the rectangular plate of limestone. This is an excellent association piece with a magnificent fish and a superb shrimp fossilized together.
