This is an unusual fossil fish. It is a large Nematonotus from the Cretaceous of Lebanon. This type of fish has an extremely long dorsal fin spine. The fish has great detail preserved - the tail, fins, and eye socket are all easily seen. The fossil also has great natural color. The fish is beautifully centered on the rectangular plate that also has two excellent shrimp preserved. This is a great example of this uncommon fossil fish in association with two ancient crustaceans.
