Here is a very nice fossil fish. This is Jianghanicthys hubeiensis from the Eocene of China. This fossil fish is very well preserved and exhibits great detail. The bone structure is well defined and the fins are nicely displayed - even the scale pattern of the fossil fish is easily seen! The dark brown fossil contrasts wonderfully with the light-colored matrix. The fish is almost perfectly centered on the rectangular plate. This is a fine example of Jianghanicthys from China.
