This is one of the wildest fossil fish we have ever had. It is a complete Coccodus from the Cretaceous layers of Lebanon. Political unrest in Lebanon has made fossil collecting difficult, and very few specimens will be exported in the next few years. This fossil fish has INCREDIBLE detail. The fluke-like fins beautifully preserved. The skull shows the large crusher teeth, which are extremely well-preserved. The fish is nicely showcased on the squared matrix plate - there is also a fine shrimp on the plate. And the best part is, there is no restoration or repair to this specimen at all. This is a very exciting find, and one of the most distinct fossil fish we have had from Lebanon.
