This is a very attractive pair of Diplomystus dentatus from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. These fish are very ''crisp and clean'' and exhibit great detail. The bone structures of both fish are beautifully displayed, and the fins and tails are easily seen. The eye sockets are clearly defined, and the upturned mouths adds a certain charm. The natural, orangish-brown color of the fish contrasts wonderfully with the light-colored matrix. The fossil herrings are aesthetically spaced on the large, rectangular plate of shale. This is a very displayable example of Diplomystus from the Eocene.
