This is a nice specimen of Lycoptera sp. from the Jurassic of China. This fossil fish has very good detail - the bone structure of the fish is clearly defined, and the large eye of the fish is easily seen. The orange-brown color of the fossil contrasts beautifully with the yellow-orange matrix. The fish is well presented on the natural plate of shale. This is a fine example of a fossil fish from the time of the dinosaurs.
