This is a textbook specimen of Eohiodon falcatus from the Eocene of Wyoming. The fossil fish is large and has nice brown color, which contrasts nicely with the cream-colored matrix. The fish has great bone structure and excellent fin detail. The mouth is open, and the large teeth display prominently. The fish is well centered on a large, rectangular plate of matrix. This is a beautiful example of this rare predatory fish from the Green River Formation - one of the best examples of this type we have ever had.
