This is one of the most unusual fossils from Lebanon we have ever had. There is a complete Coccodus sp. (Batfish) and five complete Carpopenaeus callirostris (Shrimp) preserved on the plate. Political unrest in Lebanon has made fossil collecting difficult, and very few nice specimens have been found in the past few years. This fossil fish has excellent detail - the fluke-like fins are beautifully preserved. The rest of the fish is also nicely intact. The batfish is well centered on the squared matrix plate that also contains five fossil shrimp - what a wonderful display piece. This is a very exciting find, and one of the most unique fossils we have ever had from Lebanon.
