This is an excellent pair of Jianghanicthys hubeiensis from the Eocene of China. The complete fish is quite large for the type and exhibits great detail. The bone structure is clearly defined, and the fins are easily seen - even the scale pattern is quite evident! The natural, dark brown color of the fish contrasts well with the light-colored matrix. The other fish is still partially covered with rock. Both fish are beautifully centered on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a wonderful example of two Jianghanicthys from the Eocene of China.
