This is a very rare fossil fish. It is an Eohiodon rosei from the Tranquille Shale of Canada. This locality is well-known for the fossil plants that are found there. However, fossil fish from this site are extremely uncommon. This specimen is complete and exhibits fine detail. The bone structure is clearly defined, and the fins are easily seen. The fossil has excellent color and contrast and is nicely presented on the natural plate of shale that also contains a fossil plant on the reverse side. This is a wonderful specimen of this highly collectible fish from the Eocene of Canada.
