Here is a gorgeous fossil fish from the Green River Formation. This is a very large (9 inches long) Priscacara serrata from the Eocene of Wyoming. This type is highly sought-after because of its recognizable look - similar to a modern-day Bluegill or Crappie. This specimen exhibits great bone structure, and the fins are beautifully displayed. The sharp spikes of the large dorsal fin are all intact and easily seen. Many small teeth are even evident in the mouth of the fish! The fossil has outstanding color and contrast and is almost perfectly centered on the large, rectangular plate. This is an extremely displayable example of this ''wide-bodied'' fish from the Fossil Lake deposits.
