Here is a very aesthetic plate of fossils from the Cretaceous layers of Lebanon. This slab contains both an unusual fish and a shrimp. The fish is a nice example of Scombroclupaea gaudry. This somewhat arched fish exhibits fine detail - the bone structure is wonderfully defined. On the right side of the slab is a very detailed specimen of Carpopenaeus callirostris. This shrimp displays the head, segmented carapace, and tail in fine fashion. Even the legs and antennae of the shrimp are easily seen. The fossils have great color (some enhancement for contrast) and are well presented on the rectangular plate of limestone. This is an excellent association plate of two different animals from the Cretaceous sea.
