Here is a fabulous display specimen of a fossil fish. This is one of the best Diplomystus dentatus that we have ever been able to offer. This specimen is from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. This large fish exhibits incredible detail. The bone structure and fins are superb. The eye socket is easily seen. This is a gorgeous, very "clean" specimen devoid of paint or shellac. The fish has great color and excellent contrast. It is almost perfectly centered on a large rectangular plate. And there is even a fish coprolite (fossil poop) above the back of the fish! This is a stunning specimen of a large fossil herring from the Eocene.
