Here is a very nice plate of fossil fish from the Green River Shale of Wyoming. The fish on the left side of the plate is a Diplomystus dentatus. The fish on the right side of the slab is a Knightia humilis. The differences between the fish are readily apparent. It is unusual to have two different types of fish on the same plate. Both fish are complete and have excellent detail. The bone structure is well preserved, and the fins are clearly defined. The dark brown fish contrast wonderfully with the lighter-colored matrix. The fossils are well presented on the oval plate of shale. This is a fine slab of two different fossil fish from the Eocene of Wyoming.
