Here is a very unusual fish from the Upper Jurassic of China. This is the first specimen of this particular type of fish that we have seen from these layers. The fish is quite large and exhibits excellent detail. The bone structure is easily seen, and the fins are beautifully preserved. Even the scale pattern of the fish is quite evident. The fish has great color and contrast and is nicely positioned on the large (8.2'' X 11.6''), natural plate of shale that also contains two specimens of Lycoptera sp., another type of fish. This is a very striking specimen of this rare fish from the Jurassic.
