Here is a very collectable fossil fish. This is a LARGE example of Amphiplaga bracyptera from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. This is a very scarce fish from the Green River Shale. Only a handful of this species are found each year - and even fewer are found that are this well preserved. This fossil fish exhibits incredible detail. The bone structure is superb and the fins are beautifully displayed. The eye socket is easily seen and the open mouth is quite apparent. The fossil has excellent color and contrast. It is almost perfectly centered on the large plate of shale. This is a very displayable specimen of this scarce fossil fish from the Eocene.
