This is a wonderfully preserved fossil fish. It is a large Priscacara serrata from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. This type is very sought-after because of its recognizable look - similar to a modern-day Bluegill or Crappie. This specimen exhibits near-perfect bone structure, and the fins are exquisitely displayed. The long, sharp spikes of the large dorsal fin are all intact and easily seen. The fossil has beautiful color and contrast and is aesthetically centered on the large, unbroken, plate of shale. This is a pristine example of this collectible fish from the famous Fossil Lake deposits.
