This is a beautiful stingray fossil. It is a complete Heliobatis radians from Wyoming. This specimen is a female - it lacks the sexual ''graspers'' that the males possess. This ray has excellent detail - the close-up photo is large to show the amazing detail. The mouth is easily seen, and the barbs that run the length of the tail are sharp and well preserved. The large, defining ''stinger spines'' are all fully intact. And there is even a complete Knightia fossil fish preserved on the plate (rare).
Fossil stingrays are some of the most sought-after fossils in the world. The overall display of this stingray is probably the best we've ever had - an elegant fossil to hang in your home or office. It is a very collectible stingray fossil that displays like a natural work of art.
