Here is a very displayable fossil fish from the Green River Formation. This is a large (8 inches) Priscacara serrata from the Eocene of Wyoming. This type of fish is highly collectible because of its recognizable look - similar to a modern-day Bluegill or Crappie. The fish exhibits great detail - the bone structure is quite evident, and the fins are beautifully exhibited. The sharp spikes of the large dorsal fin are all intact and easily seen. The fossil has great, natural, orangish-brown color and contrasts well with the cream-colored matrix. The fish is almost perfectly centered on the large, unbroken, rectangular plate of shale. This is a great specimen of this highly sought-after fish from the Fossil Lake deposits.
