Here is a very displayable plate of fossil fish from the Eocene of Wyoming. There are two different fish wonderfully preserved on this slab. Both fish are complete and exhibit excellent form. On the left side of the plate is a great specimen of Amphiplaga bracyptera. This highly uncommon fish has the large head and fins clearly defined. Tickling the belly of the Amphiplaga is a very detailed example of Diplomystus dentatus. This fish exhibits fantastic bone structure. The dark brown fish contrast nicely with the cream-colored matrix. They are extremely well positioned on the huge, rectangular plate of shale. This is a very striking specimen of two diffferent fossil fish from the Eocene.
