This is an extremely rare fossil fish. It is a wonderful specimen of Urocles altivelis from the Solnhofen Limestone of Germany. This formation is quite famous for the exquisite preservation of the occasionally found fossils. This fossil fish is tightly articulated and exhibits superb detail. The bone structure is beautifully displayed and the fins are easily seen. The fossil has very good color and contrast and is nicely presented on the natural plate of lithographic limestone. This is an excellent example of this highly uncommon Jurassic fish from Germany.
