This is one of the wildest fossil fish we have ever had. It is a complete Coccodus from the Cretaceous layers of Lebanon. Political unrest in Lebanon has made fossil collecting difficult, and very few nice specimens have been found in the past few years. This fossil fish has INCREDIBLE detail. The fluke-like fins and tail are beautifully preserved (see the close-up detail of the fin in Photo #2). The skull shows the eyes and the large crusher teeth are even preserved. The fish is well centered on the squared matrix plate, surrounded by a shrimp and a smaller fish - a wonderful display piece. And the best part is, there is no restoration or repair to this specimen at all. This is a very exciting find, and one of the best fossils we have ever had from Lebanon.
