This is a very cool fossil fish. It is a large Knightia from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. The fossil fish is extremely well preserved and exhibits wonderful detail. The eye socket is easily seen, the fins are very defined, and the tail is quite evident. This fish has nice, dark coloration and contrasts nicely with the cream-colored rock. The fossil is well showcased on the large, natural-edged matrix plate - the back side has a NATURAL colorful, swirly pattern - how bizarre! This is a beautiful example of a complete fossil fish on a large, artistic rock.
