This is a striking specimen of Diplomystus dentatus from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. This distinct fish is very colorful and exhibits very good detail. The bone structure of the fish is wonderfully displayed, and the fins and tail are easily seen. The eye socket is clearly defined, and the upturned mouth adds a certain charm. The orange-brown color of the fish contrasts well with the light-colored matrix. The fossil herring is beautifully showcased on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a very fine fossil fish from Wyoming.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
