This is a very nice fossil fish. It is a fine Knightia eocaena from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. The fossil fish is extremely well preserved and exhibits wonderful detail. The eye socket is easily seen, the backbone is intact, the fins and tail are well defined. This fish has nice, dark coloration and contrasts beautifully with the cream-colored rock. The fossil is well showcased on the large, rectangular matrix plate that also contains a partial Diplomystus. This is a displayable example of a complete fossil fish from the Eocene.
