This is a fabulous fossil fish from the Oligocene of France. it is a large Dapalis macrurus fish from . This specimen is from an old collection, with the original old label attached to the back of the plate. The distinct fish is complete and wonderfully articulated. The detail of this classic fish is just exquisite! The bone structure is clearly defined, and the fins are wonderfully displayed. The brown color of the fish contrasts strikingly with the light-colored matrix. The fossil is beautifully showcased on the large, squared plate of limestone. This is an extremely collectible specimen of this classic Oligocene fish from France.
