This is a very distinct fossil fish. It is a fine Phareodus testis from the Eocene of Wyoming. This type of fish has a very wide body and two large fins near the tail. This fish is well preserved and exhibits fine detail. The bone structure is clearly defined, and the fins are wonderfully displayed. Even the scale pattern is somewhat intact, which is quite unusual. The fish has excellent, natural color and contrast and is well centered on the squared plate of shale. This is a cool example of this predatory fish from the Green River Formation.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
