This is a beautiful fossil fish. This specimen is Diplomystus dentatus from the Eocene of Wyoming. There a fabulous fossil fish preserved on the plate. The large fossil exhibits very fine detail - the bone structure of the fish is wonderfully displayed, the eye socket is easily seen, and the fins and tail are very well preserved. The distinct fossil fish contrasts very well with the large, cream-colored matrix plate. This is an excellent fossil herring from the Green River Formation of Wyoming.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
