Here is a nice, large example of Diplomystus dentatus. This specimen is from the Eocene of Wyoming. There is a wonderful fossil herring preserved on the plate. The fish exhibits very fine detail. The bone structure of the fish is well displayed, and the eye socket is easily seen. The orange-brown fossil fish contrasts very nicely with the cream-colored matrix. This is a large fossil herring from the Green River Formation.
