This is a very nice fossil fish. It is a large Knightia eocaena from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. The fossil fish is extremely well preserved and exhibits wonderful detail. The eye socket is easily seen, the fins are very defined, and the tail is quite evident. This fish has nice, dark coloration and contrasts well with the cream-colored rock. The fossil is well displayed on the large, rectangular matrix plate. This is a beautiful example of a fossil fish from the Eocene.
