This is a fine fossil fish. It is a complete Knightia eocaena from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. This classic fossil fish is well preserved and exhibits fine detail. The eye socket is easily seen, and thel fins are beautifully displayed. The orange-colored fish contrasts wonderfully with the colorful matrix plate. The fossil herring is well showcased on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a very nice example of Knightia eocaena from the famous Fossil Lake Deposits of Wyoming.
