This is a very unusual specimen of Lycoptera davidi from the Jurassic of China. The rare feature of this fossil is that there complete fish preserved on the front side of the plate, and a strange plant fossilized on the back! The bone structure of the fish is clearly defined, and the large eye and open mouth of the fish are easily seen. The dark-brown color of the fossils contrasts beautifully with the tannish-grey matrix. The fish and plant are well presented on the large, natural plates of shale. This is a very collectible double-sided plant/animal fossil from the time of the dinosaurs.
