Here is a very attractive plate of fossil fish. There are two examples of Knightia eocaena - one large, one smaller - on the slab. This fossil is from the famous Green River Formation of Wyoming. Both fish exhibit fine detail - the bone structure is clearly defined, and the fins and tails are easily seen. The fish have great orangish-brown color, which contrasts nicely with the cream-colored matrix. The fossils are well showcased on the large, squared plate of shale - the line on the left side of the plate is natural, not a crack. This is a very fine specimen of two different-sized fossil herring from the Eocene.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
