This is a very unusual specimen of Lycoptera davidi from the Jurassic of China. There are two fossil fish on the slab - one is complete and one is missing the head. Both fish are well preserved and exhibit great detail. The bone structures are clearly defined, and the fins are easily seen. The fossils have very good color and contrast and are beautifully displayed in an interesting pose - one seems to almost be nibbling at the other! This is a very fine plate of fossil fish from the time of the dinosaurs.
