Here is a wonderful specimen of Lycoptera davidi from the Jurassic of China. This specimen is distinct and exhibits superb detail - the bone structure is extremely well defined, and the scale pattern is nicely displayed. The dark-brown color of the fish is totally natural and contrasts beautifully with the tan and off-white matrix. The fossil is well showcased on the large plate of shale that also contains a fossil insect in the upper right corner. This is a cool fish and insect association from the time of the dinosaurs.
