This is an extremely prolific multiple plate of Knightia eocaena from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. We counted 27 fish, but that is a conservative estimate. It is interesting that all the fossil fish are the same type and are all generally the same size. The fossils exhibit fine detail - the eye sockets are easily seen, and the bone structure of the fish is quite evident. The fins and tails are also nicely intact. The fossils have excellent color and contrast and are artistically, but naturally, scattered about the large (almost two feet across!) matrix plate. This is a very displayable grouping of at least twenty-seven fossil fish on one plate.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
