Here is an extremely unusual pair of fossil fish. These are very well preserved Centriscus strigatus from the Pliocene of Italy. This is a type of trumpetfish, which is unusual in the fossil record. These large fish exhibit great detail - the eye sockets are easily seen, and the long trumpet-like mouths are quite apparent. The fossils have excellent, dark brown color and contrast nicely with the grey matrix. The fish are well showcased on the large plate of shale. This is a wonderful, rare DOUBLE specimen of this unique fossil fish from Italy.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
