The fossil exhibits great quality - the head is exquisitely preserved, the bone structure is beautifully displayed, and the unique fins are easily seen. The natural orangish color of the fossil contrasts well with the cream-colored matrix. The eel is wonderfully centered on the rectangular plate of sublithographic limestone.
