Here is a very unusual creature from the Cretaceous Seas of Lebanon. This plate contains beautifully-preserved Rhinchodercetis sp. (Needlefish). Fossil needlefish are EXTREMELY RARE in the fossil record, and this is a superb example. The fossil exhibits great quality - simply amazing detail. The bone structure is beautifully displayed, and the head is exquisitely preserved. The natural orangish color of the fossil contrasts well with the cream-colored matrix. The fish is wonderfully centered on the rectangular plate of sublithographic limestone. This is a very collectible specimen of one of the strangest fossil fish from Lebanon.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
