Here is a very attractive plate of fossil fish. There are two fine examples of Knightia on the slab. This specimen is from the famous Green River Formation of Wyoming. Both fish are complete and exhibit fine detail. The bone structure is clearly defined and the fins are easily seen. The eye sockets are quite distinct and even the scale pattern is preserved. The fish have great, natural orangish-brown color, which contrasts nicely with the cream-colored matrix. The fossils are well positioned on the large, squared plate of shale that also contains a partial fish. This is an excellent specimen of two different types fossil herring from the Eocene.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally. A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
