Here is an incredible plate of extinct sea life from the Cretaceous of Lebanon. This slab contains a shrimp, Carpopenaeus callirostris, and a wonderfully-preserved eel, Urenchelys sp. Fossil eels are EXTREMELY RARE in the fossil record, and this is one of the earliest examples known. Both fossils are complete and exhibit great detail. The natural orangish color of the animals contrasts well with the light tan matrix. The fossils are nicely presented on the oval plate of sublithographic limestone. This is a very collectible specimen of a fossil eel that just happens to have a fine, complete shrimp on the plate.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
